Grandpa and Sundance
This is one of my favorite photographs of Sundance and Grandpa.
By most standards, it isn’t a perfect picture. Time has faded the colors, Sundance isn’t standing perfectly still, and Grandpa is dressed in the well-worn clothes of a man who spent his life doing what needed to be done.
Yet somehow, it captures everything Sundance Hollow stands for.
It reminds me that life’s greatest treasures aren’t found in perfection—they’re found in the people who shape us, the lessons they teach us, and the memories they leave behind.
Grandpa never set out to build a publishing company. He simply lived a life of integrity, hard work, humility, and quiet strength. Those values became part of who I am, and today they continue to shape every story we tell, every song we write, every book we publish, and every creative work we create at Sundance Hollow.
Some legacies are written in books. Others are written in the lives they touch.
The Story of Sundance Hollow
Life eventually carried me beyond the quiet hollow that shaped my childhood, but the lessons I learned there never left.
As the years passed, I realized Sundance Hollow was never just a place on a map. It became a reminder of where I came from, the people who shaped me, and the values that continue to guide my life.
When the time came to create a publishing company, I wanted its name to represent something greater than a publishing company. I wanted it to honor a horse who captured a young girl’s heart, grandparents whose quiet example still inspires me, parents who believed in my future, and a community that taught me the value of hard work, kindness, resilience, and hope.
Today, Sundance Hollow exists to create books, music, educational resources, and creative works that inspire hearts, spark imagination, encourage lifelong learning, and strengthen the connections that make life meaningful.
Every story we publish carries a small piece of the hollow that started it all.
Because the places that shape us often become the stories we share with the world.
